Minnie Howard Writers Group
(posted March 14, 2010)

We enjoyed an exciting afternoon at the Rocky Mountain Writers Festival on Friday. I met a lot of new people - avid readers and writers alike.  Being a college town, Pocatello has an amazing supply of poets, writers, and literary events.  Our Book Fair table attracted several folks interested in our local writers' group, the Minnie Howard Writers, which meets on the third Saturday of every month from 4-6pm at the Minnie Howard Room at the Marshall Public Library in Pocatello.  Feel free to contact us for more details or just show up and see what our group is about.  The meetings are very casual and friendly. We would love to meet you.

Summer Readings & Picnic in the Park
(posted July 10, 2011)

The Minnie Howard Writers in Pocatello are hosting a potluck picnic featuring readings by local authors on Saturday, July 16th from 4-6pm.  The location is Caldwell Park at intersection of Center St and 8th Avenue.  (Rain site is Marshall Public Library).  Feel free to bring guests. Everyone is welcome!

This will be an informal time for readings while we eat.  No handout copies are necessary, no critiques given, just reading and enjoying some good local writing and food with friends. Please bring your own beverage to drink, a camp chair if you have one, and a dish or snack to share with the group.

We usually have time for eight readers at 15 minutes each.  If more than eight people want to read, we can consider starying longer than 6pm.  Looking forward to seeing you there.

Idaho Writers League - Annual Writers Conference - Sept 23 & 24
(posted August 5, 2011)

This year the Idaho Writers League is holding their annual conference in Pocatello at the Clarion Inn. Everyone is welcome to attend.

To get program details, costs, and registration form, visit the league’s website at http://www.idahowritersleague.com.  They have special fees for partial attendees, with or without meals.

The writers conference will start off at 9am Friday morning with some good motivational speakers. You will be able to choose among several workshops to attend throughout the rest of Friday and Saturday. This is a great chance to meet a visiting publisher and other experts, as well as chat with fellow writers of all genres over luncheon and the banquet.

They mentioned having a book-fair if you want to bring your published books to sell. If you need more info about that, or have questions beyond the website info, contact the IWL Pocatello Chapter coordinators:  LaDean Messenger at 237-9289, email ladeanm@cableone.net or Alice Dunn at 238-7547, email delphicden@aol.com.

A good turnout will look good for the writing community in Pocatello.
Author's profile
(posted September 11, 2011)
A sweet young lady named Emily Bittton wrote a very nice author's profile about me in the Idaho State Journal this Sunday. Thanks for the kind words, Emily, as well as the free publicity!  I wish you all the best in your future endeavors as a reporter and columnist.
